James Howard "Jim" Trent departed this life to be with Jesus on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Rogersville, TN on November 6, 1938, the oldest son of the late Bill and Nadine Trent. Jim was saved and baptized during a revival at Henards Chapel Baptist Church in June of 1949. He joined Belmont Baptist Church in the early 70's, and has been a member of West View Missionary Baptist Church since 1992. Jim lived the majority of his life in the Church Hill, Mount Carmel area.
Jim and his brother, Wayne, owned and operated Trent's Auto Body and Repair Shop in Carters Valley for more than 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Jo Blizzard.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy Smallwood Trent; four daughters, Vicki Ted Blair of Church Hill, Tamie Steve Gamble of Kingsport, Jamie Trent of Mount Carmel, and Becky Lynn Byington of Church Hill; eight grandchildren, Jessica Ricky Bingham and Jennifer Kris King of Church Hill, Tyler Blair of Mount Carmel, Krisha Adam Jessee and Colton Fleming of Kingsport, Katie Byington, Amber Byington and Hunter Byington, all of Church Hill; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey Trent, Taylor Baillie, Kylie King, and Shaun Bingham, all of Church Hill, Ryan Jessee and Justin Jessee of Kingsport. He is also survived by three sisters, Marlene Ronald Christian of Rogersville, Pat Bill Lane of Sulphur Springs, and Ann Blizzard of Kingsport; one brother, Wayne Carolyn Trent of Church Hill; several very special nieces and nephews; and a host of dear and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 29th at West View Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30th at Mount Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church in Church Hill. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Ted Stout, Fred Montgomery, Bill Derrick, Wendell Christian, Dale Duncan and many other friends, along with the men of West View Missionary Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
