James Paul White, 83, of Kingsport passed away on Friday April 10, 2009. Mr. White was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas White and Maude White; as well as by his brothers, Adria and Hubert White, all of Chuckey; and by his beloved grandson, Patrick Paul Long of Athens, Tennessee.
Paul's survivors are his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jean McAmis White; his daughter, Donna Gail White Long and her husband Sim of Athens, Tennessee; his son, Jim White and his fiancée Penny French of Knoxville; a beloved granddaughter, Heather White and husband David Diamond; and two great-granddaughters Cady and Susan Diamond all of Takoma Park, Maryland; a beloved grandson, Eric Horton of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a niece, Helen Reynolds and husband Raymond of Afton; sisters-in-law Carol Diacont and Mildred McAmis of Baltimore, Maryland, and June McAmis of Fall Branch; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. White was a long-time member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church where he served on various committees. He served in the US Air Force in the Korean conflict at Enewetak and other Pacific locations. Mr. White retired from the Mead Corporation after 43 years of service
Mr. White's family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 on Monday, April 13 at Fort Robinson Baptist Church. A funeral service will begin at 8:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Wallen officiating, assisted by Rev. Vic Wallace. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Military Rites by American Legion Post 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Michael Steadman; Roger McAmis; Kyle Butler, Jr.; Steve Quillen; Eric Horton; Craig Quillen; and Lance McAmis. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion White, Ralph Edwards, and John Hensley.
