James E. "Jim" Wolfe, 80, of Fall Branch, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 4, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Hawkins County on December 22, 1929, Jim had resided in Fall Branch for 56 years and was a faithful member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Fall Branch. He retired from AFG and served over 40 years in the U.S. Army and Reserve Unit #639 Transportation Co. After his retirement, Jim enjoyed working part-time with his friends at East Tennessee Auto Auction and attending Cliff and Kayla's ballgames.
Jim was preceded in death by a son, Steve; parents, Roy S. and Hazel Wolfe; sister, Betty Webb; sisters-in-law, Mary Wolfe, Helen Steadman, and Erma Lee Sheats; brother and sister-in-law, C.B. and Louise Steadman.
Jim will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nova Wolfe; son, Rick Wolfe and special friend, Cathy Smith; brother, Ralph Wolfe and wife, Marie; sisters, Jean Ferguson and husband, O. W., and Wanda Hood and husband, Gordon; brothers-in-law, Rev. Hagan Webb and wife, Kay, and Maury Sheats; and many other loving family members and close friends, including special nephew and niece, Cliff and Kayla Sanders.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, August 6th, at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch, with services to follow at 8:00, with Rev. Carl Strickler, Rev. Vic Wallace, and Rev. Hagan Webb officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the church cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Posts #3/265. Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Men's Sunday School Classes #1 and #2.
