James Truman Yonce

James Truman Yonce, 80, Kingsport, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 31, 2007.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific. Truman retired from Eastman Kodak and always had a love for horses and the outdoors.

Preceding him in death were the mother of his children, Phyllis Breeding Yonce; his parents, Truman Clate and Georgia Ketron Younce; and second wife, Mary Wood Yonce.

Surviving are two daughters, Gaye Whitaker and husband Mike, Pulaski, VA; Dawn Fink and husband Frank, Kingsport; one son, James Truman ?Oz? Yonce, Jr. and wife Teresa, Big Stone Gap, VA; five grandchildren, Josh, Darby, and Jimmy Yonce, Jennifer Rush and Lora Howard; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Jackson and husband Tommy; and Sarah Webb and husband David, all of Kingsport; one stepdaughter; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all those who helped take care of Truman during his sickness, especially Sarah and David Webb, Wellmont Home Health, Wellmont Hospice, and the Oncology floor of Wilcox Hall.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Ed Clevenger officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 3/265 and the Tennessee National Guard.

Pallbearers will be James Truman ?Oz? Yonce Jr., Josh Yonce, Darby Yonce, Jimmy Yonce, Justin Monk, and Dodie Daniel.
