James Lloyd Yonce, Jr

James Lloyd Yonce, Jr., 80, Kingsport, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday April 22, 2007 at Mountain Home Veteran?s Hospital.

Born in Kingsport, he attended Dobyns-Bennett High School and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Junior was a brick mason by trade and later owned and operated Discount Foods in Jonesborough.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, James Lloyd Yonce, Sr. and Nell Wood Yonce; mother, Kepple Yonce; and three sisters, Martha Deskins, Nancy Hamilton, and Mary Feathers.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Shirley Whitaker Yonce, Kingsport; daughters, Diana Parnell and husband, Phil, Kingsport, and Marty Southerland and husband, Roger, Kingsport; one son, James Lloyd Yonce III and wife, Lora, Kingsport; four grandchildren, Kim Chandler and husband, Don, Chris Lunsford and wife, Amy, Alex Yonce, and Andy Southerland; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Blakely Chandler and Haddie and Elsie Lunsford; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Buford ?Bo? Deaton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Jim Presley, Chris Lunsford, Don Chandler, Alex Yonce, Bob Feathers, Don Feathers, and Chris Presley. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Southerland, Tom Carter, John Moats, John Marcum, Benoris Whitaker, Doug Hudnall, Jim Whitaker, J. L. Baines, and Earl L. Feathers.
