Jane Blackmore Perry Bobic, 84, of Kingsport, died at Indian Path Medical Center on September 8, 2009. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Rev. Martin and Ruth Perry, she lived in the East Tennessee area most of her life. A graduate of Hampton Dubose Boarding School, Ms. Bobic received her Bachelors Degree from Bob Jones University and her Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and was pursuing her Doctorate in American Studies.
After having her children, she moved back to this area and started her teaching career at Rye Cove where she "taught for 150 years" and continued her career at Northeast State and Walters State Community College. An active member of Taylors Baptist Church and Airport Christian Church, she contributed to Bancroft Gospel Ministries.
Ms. Bobic is survived by her daughter, Kathy Parton and husband Tim of Kingsport; sons, Steve Bobic of Kingsport and Mike Bobic and wife Jennifer of Fairmont, WV; two step-grandchildren, Rebacca Luttrell and Brian Parton; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Taylor Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Ms. Bobic will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Powers and Rev. Guy Tilley officiating. Burial will follow at Newland Family Cemetery where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
