Jane Booher, 60, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning at Leconte Medical Center in Sevierville, TN.
She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School then attended Eastern Kentucky University. Jane graduated from The University of TN with a BS in Psychology and a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation. While at Eastern Kentucky and UT, she was an active member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Jane lived and worked in Knoxville at Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center (Oak Ridge) and the University of TN Hospital until she and her family moved to Kingsport. It was in Knoxville that her sons, Sam and Nicholas, were born. After moving to Kingsport, she managed Country Garden Apartments for a number of years. She enjoyed participation at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council, Mutual Ministry Committee and prepared meals for Meals on Wheels.
She took great pleasure in cooking for and entertaining her family and friends, traveling, and sewing with the members of the Chestnut Ridge Sewing Circle. She was always a source of help and compassion for those in need. Jane's greatest joy in life was her family - Michael, her sons and daughter-in -law, and her new granddaughter.
As her health was declining, Jane's grace, positive attitude and faith were a great source of comfort and inspiration to both her family and friends.
Jane is survived by her husband, Michael Bruce; two sons: Sam and wife, Maggie of Kingsport and Nicholas Booher of Knoxville; granddaughter: Elizabeth Gretchen Booher; step-sons: Bruce, Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin, and David Booher; fourteen step-grandchildren; parents: Sam and DeLois Anderson of Kingsport; sister: Dee Dee Dietrich and husband, Dan of Kingsport; nieces and nephews: Andy Dietrich and wife, Hayley of Johnson City, Lauren Ralls and husband, Sam of Spartanburg, SC; seven special cousins: Kristen, Betsy, Meeks, Sherry, Mary, Buddy, and Ellen.
