Janeen Ward, 54, of Kingsport crossed over into Glory late Wednesday night with a smile on her face following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Never allowing her circumstances to tarnish her faith or steal her joy, Janeen was a source of inspiration to all those who were blessed to call her friend. Blessed is how Janeen consistently referred to herself and how she would choose to be remembered.
She was preceded in death by several uncles, aunts, and grandparents.
Janeen is survived by her devoted husband, Loda A. Ward of Kingsport; her loving parents, Frank and Edna Hurd of Kingsport; one son, Chris Fraser and wife Alaina of Rogersville; one step-daughter, Rosana Thacker of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Tori Fraser, Isla Fraser, Marcus Thacker, Kayla Thacker, Gene Ward, and CJ Ward and wife Mercedes; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday March 1 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at First Christian Church behind Church Circle in Kingsport with a celebration of Janeen's blessed life to follow at 3:00pm. Pastor Phip Sams will be officiating. Procession to graveside services at Sulphur Springs Cemetery will immediately follow the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church building maintenance fund, 106 E. Charlemont Ave., Kingsport, TN 37660.
