Janet Marie Sims

Janet Marie Short Sims (1947-2024)

Janet, beloved wife and mother sadly passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2024, leaving a void her family can never fulfill. 

She was born on April 9, 1947 in Big Stone Gap, Va to her parents, Morgan Steve Short and Edith Marie Yeary Short. She was one of nine children. She attended Ketron High School and was a cake decorator by profession. 

Janet was a devoted Mother to her children, and was loved by those who knew her. She will be especially missed by her favorite sister, Linda Carter and husband Dwight and brother Morgan Short Jr and wife Judy. 

Janet was preceded in death by her youngest son Gary Wayne Sims; Great granddaughter Taylor Grace, her Brother Leroy Short and Son in law Rick Christian. 

Those she leaves behind to cherish her precious memory are, her husband of 58 years, Virgil Earl Sims; her daughter and best friend, Rhonda Diane Christian her Son David Earl Sims wife Christel; grandchildren, Rebecca, Dylan, Logan and Sophia; great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Jordyn, Ashlyn and Ryder. They will all remember the enormous amount of love and support she gave them. 

There will be a private family committal at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, where she will be entombed in the Mausoleum of Faith.
