Janice Marie Adams, 73, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, August 2, 2010.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Janice was born on October 1, 1937, and lived her entire life in the Kingsport area. She worked for Sears in the Fort Henry Mall for thirty years before retiring in 1998. She was a faithful member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church for several years and a loving and compassionate woman who will be missed so dearly by everyone that knew her.
Janice now walks in heaven with her oldest son, Bryan Adams, who passed away four years ago. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Faye Lazenby, several sisters, and a brother.
She is survived by her heartbroken husband of 56 years, Marvin Adams; her best friend and son, Jeffrey Adams, both of Kingsport; her precious and adoring grandson, Noah Adams; and her loving daughter-in-law, Amy Adams, of Indiana. She is also survived by her many sisters with whom she has always been an extremely close and very protective sister: Claralee Gragg, Kingsport; Peggy Hulse and husband, John, Louisville KY; Delilah Beckum and husband, Don, Dade City, FL; RoseElla Wright, Kingsport; Claralee Wright and husband, Bobby, Kingsport; Donna Pack and husband, David, West Virginia, Shirley Bell and husband, Robert, Surgoinsville. She leaves behind a large family of numerous nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom loved her greatly.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Sturgill, Luke Gragg, Joe Gragg, Bud Gragg, Gary Vaughn, Andy Taylor, Mike Gragg, John Hulse, and Shirrell Vaughn.
