Janice Marie Rector

Janice Marie Rector, 71 of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025. Janice was born and raised in a large family here in Kingsport. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. Following her graduation, she began her lifelong career of waiting tables. Janice is remembered for being a good mother, with a big heart, to her son, Chad. Janice was funny and a good cook, but she took the most pride in being remembered as a good sister. She will be loved and missed by many.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mildred Rector; brothers, Kyle and Bobby Rector; brother, Pete Cowden; sister, Cathy Rector.

Survivors include her son, Chad and wife, Melissa Powell; grandchildren, Cody Powell, Isaiah Powell, Amethyst Powell and Raylynn Powell; brother, Joe Rector; sisters, Lois Johnson, Jean Hawk and Betty Hart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
