Janie Brown

Janie Ruth Brown, 86, Kingsport, died at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an apparent heart attack.

She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, lived in Indiana several years, resided in Florida for more than 13 years, and returned to Kingsport where she had resided for the past 30 years.

Janie was employed with Eastman for 10 years as a cafeteria cashier. She was an avid bingo player.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arlan M. Brown; two brothers, Jake Lane and Grover Lane; and a sister, Grace Bruner.

Surviving are a daughter, Coantha "Cookie" Church of Kingsport; one sister, Frances Johnson of Kingsport; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
