J.C. Steadman

J.C. Steadman

J.C.Steadman, a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, met his heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. He was a charter member and builder of Lone Star Baptist Church and a lover of gospel and bluegrass music. A World War II veteran, J.C. proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a significant contributor to the Kingsport War Memorial.

He was preceded in death by his parents, N.E. Steadman and Stacy Bragg Steadman; wife, Eula Morelock Steadman; three sisters, Thelma Boyer, Jean Holden and Betty Jane Steadman; four brothers, Johnny Wayne Steadman, N.E. Steadman, Jr., Robert L. Steadman and Orville Steadman; son-in-law, William E. Carter; and great-granddaughter, Megan Carter.

J.C. is survived by two daughters, Jan Gragg and Linda Carter both of Gray, TN; three grandchildren, Amanda Hawkins, Jason Carter and wife, Monica and Jay Carter and wife, Diedre; six great-grandchildren, Katie Hawkins, Jake Hawkins, Savannah Carter, Josie Carter, Justin Carter and Sarah Stafford; two great-great-granddaughters, Emily Pickle and Caroline Pickle; sister, Mrs. Barbara Morelock and husband, Ed of Rogersville, TN; brother, J.D. Steadman of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Wanda Steadman, of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends and neighbors and special friend, Dillard Howell.

A special thank you to the Amedysis staff.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Rick Steadman and Dale Morelock officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Military Graveside Rites will be by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Jason Carter, Jay Carter, Buddy Gragg, Tim Steadman, Steve Holden and Larry Holden.
