J.C. White, 85, of Kingsport, son of Preston and Maggie White, entered into his heavenly home Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
J.C. loved to camp and fish at Douglas Lake. He was employed at Mason-Dixon for forty years and in his last fifteen years there was a city driver in the Gate City area. He was an active member of the Mason-Dixon Retirement Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tara Leigh White; two brothers, Cecil White, Paul White; three sisters, Pauline Weeks, Tootsie Patrick, Bonnie "Bunny" Hensley; two brothers-in-law, William Williams and Albert Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Williams White; daughter, Carlotta Bruce of Jonesborough; son, James White and wife Wendy of Kingsport; grandson, Jeffrey Bruce of Jonesborough; granddaughter Lori White and spouse, Chad Morgan of Church Hill; great-grandson James Charles "Charlie" Morgan of Church Hill; brothers-in-law, Willard Williams of Surgoinsville, Charlie Williams and wife Mary of Sulphur, NC; sisters-in-law, Rosa North of Lenoir City, NC, Edith Teter and husband Jerry of Surgoinsville, Loma Stanley of Surgoinsville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Joe Higgins of Kingsport and special, special friend, his dog J.D.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 pm on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will begin at 7 pm with Pastor Greg Street officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are Men's Fellowship Breakfast Club of Apostolic Gospel Church: Paul Amos, Paul Roark, Ray Horne, Stewart Vaughn, Danny Manness.
