J.D. Baxter

James David J.D. Baxter went home to be with the Lord on March 12th, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 6, 1927, and retired after 20 years of service from the City of Kingsport, Public Works Division.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lum and Ethel Baxter; son Tony Alan McClain; brothers, Denzel and Donald Baxter.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey H. McClain-Baxter; daughter, Judy McClain-Kandil and husband Khaled Kandil; son, Darrell McClain; grandchildren, Laura Davis, Omar Kandil, Kary Kandil and Shay Kandil; great-grandchildren, Tristan Tremblay, Laila Kandil who was his pride and joy, and Emma Davis; sister, Hazel Pratt and husband, J. R. Pratt; brother, Billy Buck Baxter and wife, Jean; sister-in-law, Ruby Baxter; several nieces and nephews.

J.D. was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is resting in the arms of the Lord now.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor David Foster officiating.
