Jean Elizabeth Moore Hagen breathed in the Holy Spirit and was released to the waiting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on her 66th wedding anniversary, June 22, 2013.
Jean, a native of Jonesboro, Johnson City, and Kingsport, was a wife, mother, and church leader--at times behind the scenes and at times in the forefront. She served as a Sullivan County Librarian and as a Member and Tutor of the Literacy Council, sharing her passion for reading with others on a daily basis. She served as a Ruling Elder at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church which was her social network. One of the great joys of her life was being a Senior High Youth Advisor; the memories of the beach trips with those now 60 and 70 something's were everlasting to her.
She was preceded in glory by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lester Moore, and her daughter, Leslie Hagen Richmond.
Jean is survived by her husband and partner in life, Ted W. Hagen. She is also survived by her three sons: Dr. Ted W. Hagen, Mr. & Mrs. David W. Hagen, and Mr. & Mrs. Mark R. Hagen; her six grandchildren: Dr. Maggie H. Gainey, Rebecca R. Stalans, Clay Richmond, Bradley R. Hagen, Nathan Greenwood, and Chyvonne Greenwood; and her seven great-grandchildren: Katie Beth, Cassie, Christie, T. J., Kalie, Deekon, and Eli. Her family always includes Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. Thomas Phillips officiating. Reception of friends will follow.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Richard Reed and Mountain States Hospice.
