Jean Parker, 78, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord at 10:26 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Clinchport, Virginia, she lived in Kingsport most of her life. Jean was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Delma Parker; parents, James Mitchell Rhoton and Nannie Ellen Rhoton; daughter, Sandra Kay Parker Watts; a son, Ricky Lee Parker; a brother, Gilbert Rhoton; and half-sister, Ruby Head.
Surviving are one son, Mickey Parker and wife Lisa of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Jeana Estep and husband Tim, Dustin Parker, Sarah Parker, all of Kingsport; one great-granddaughter, Katie Estep; five sisters, Betty Cooper, Clois Hood and husband Earl, Nell Johnson and husband Bob, Barbara Bishop and husband Charles, Ellen Jones and husband, Larry; five brothers, J. M. Rhoton and wife Marie, Audley Rhoton and wife Pat, Ed Rhoton and wife Teresa, Wayne Rhoton and wife Linda, Delmer Rhoton and wife Denisa; sisters-in-law, Virginia Parker a special friend, Mary Haynes, Ruth Horne and husband J. L. all of Kingsport; brother-in-law, J. L. Parker and wife Annis of Kingsport; special friends, Susie and Tina Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Elder Paul Strong, Pastor Earnest Steffey, and Rev. Gary Calhoun officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
