Jeffrey Starkman, 61, Harmony Community went to be with the Lord at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center after a long and courageous fight with cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, PA he resided in Florida and came to the Harmony community in 2000. He was a member of West View Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War.
Jeffrey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
His parents Lou and Sally Starkman preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Wilson Starkman, of the home; daughters, Angela Handley and husband Chris, Jonesborough, TN; Candice Elizabeth Coffey and husband Jonathan, Kingsport, TN; Chris Smith and husband Steve, Lake Mary, FL; sons, Kevin Dockery and wife Sonia, Greensboro, NC; Sean Dockery and wife Blanca, Pinellas Park, FL; and Bryan Hooper, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; Meredith, Christina, Jacob, Grace, Caroline, Vanessa, Collin, Camrin, and Courtney.
Calling hours are 5:30 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Mike Stout and Pastor Travis Pierson officiating.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by post 3/265 of the American Legion.
Pallbearers will be family members.
