Jennie Neal Gosdey Smith, 94, of Gray, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was born in Snowflake, VA, where she lived until 1940 when she moved to Gray. She resided in Gray until her death. She was an employee of London's Hardware in Johnson City.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, A.L. and Lillie Godsey; husband, Osborne Smith; three brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by a sister, Myrtle Shipley, of Lakeland, FL; nieces, Eileen Addington and Ethel Mae Kirchkoff; nephews, Howard Sivert, James Sivert, Joe Fuller, John Fuller, Charles Fuller, Paul Godsey, Cliffe "Gus" Godsey, and Kyle Shipley; special great-nephew, Mike Sivert; and other great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special friends, Jackie and Teresa Sanders.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, and also at the home of her nephew, Howard Sivert. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jody Ihfe officiating.
Burial will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
