Jennings "Cricket" Overbay, 87, Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Mr. Overbay retired from Eastman Kodak. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Special Forces as a paratrooper during World War II.
Mr. Overbay was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Tom Overbay and Jim Overbay; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Overbay; two daughters, Jo Shoemaker and Donna Debien; two sons, Larry Overbay and Shannon Arnold, all of Kingsport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wallace Overbay, George Overbay and wife Willa Dean, all of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Doyle Castle officiating. Military graveside rites will be by the Boone Dam V.F.W. Post 4933.
