Jeremiah Brandon Kyle Walters, "Jerry", "MyMy", "Elrod", 19, of Church Hill, is in the loving arms of Jesus. A graduate of Sullivan South High School, he had attended Northeast State and was currently employed at Walmart SuperCenter and Home Depot. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 2008, and was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Jeremiah was very athletic, playing softball for Southview Church as well as other sports with friends. His favorite team was the North Carolina Tarheels.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Velma Blakely Galloway; grandfather, William Thomas Lawson, Sr.; and uncle, Roger Galloway.
Surviving are his parents, Kevin and Tammy Lawson, of Church Hill; grandmother, Shirlene Lawson, Gate City; maternal grandfather, Otis Galloway, Kingsport; brothers, Jonathan Walters, Justin Walters and wife, Ashley Moore, Matthew Lawson, and Ricky Crawford, all of Church Hill; uncles Mike Galloway and wife, Beth, of Knoxville, Thomas Galloway, of Kingsport, Tommy Lawson and wife, Linda, Church Hill; aunts, Debbie Burke, Gate City, and Susan Powers and husband, Milford, Kingsport; nephew, Parker Walters; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 at Higher Ground Baptist Church. Services will follow at 8:00, with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating and music provided by Heavenly Reflections.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be his best friends: Dustin Light, Trey Smotherman, Tyler Smotherman, Austin Smith, Jason Hammonds, and Josh Davenport.
