Jerome A. "Jerry" Eaton, 2012 Timbers Edge Ct., Kingsport, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Fitchburg, MA., to Clayton and Cecille Eaton on May 24, 1940.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, and participated in Operation DEEP FREEZE in the Antarctic.
Jerry owned and operated his own food concession business for 15 years, known as Common Tater, and was affectionately referred to by those who knew him as "Tater Man". He retired from his most recent employment with Kroger's in Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a granddaughter, Jaylin Eaton.
Survivors are his wife of 12 years, Pat Gardner, of the home; three sons, Christopher Eaton and his wife Julia, Gainesville, VA., Timothy Eaton and Gregory Eaton, Las Vegas, NV.; one brother Kent Eaton and wife Linda, Orlando, FL., and the mother of his children, Susan B. Eaton, Gray, TN.
It was Jerry's wishes to be cremated.
There will be a memorial service held Saturday, October 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 4405 Orebank Road, Kingsport, with Pastor Robert Countiss officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice, or to Mountain View United Methodist Church-Building Fund.
