Jerrol JR Lynn Rhoton born February 16, 1947, in Kingsport, Tennessee to Kermit Clint and Grace Labertha Clark Rhoton both originally from Scott County, Virginia, died July 29, 2010 of pancreatic cancer at his home in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by a grieving family: wife, Patricia Ann; son Robert Thomas and wife Karen;daughter Christy Lynn; and sister, Usley Lourie Littleton and husband Gary.
He attended grade school his first 4 years in Delaware, Ohio and then moved to Radnor, Ohio and graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in Delaware, Ohio in 1964. He attended Ohio State University for 2 years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge, he resumed his education and graduated from Ohio State University in 1971. He later worked for the University of Notre Dame in their security department and was the director of the Clay Neighborhood Center in St. Joseph County in Indiana. He then attended and graduated from the Colorado School of Gunsmithing near Denver, Colorado. After working as National Service Manager for Emco-Meier, he became an independent manufacturing agent representing the K.O.Lee Co., Peerless Saw Division of Medalist Industries, Burgmaster Small Machine Division, Servo Motors and others.
He brought joy to the world around him. In addition to being a loving brother, husband, and father, he was a patriot and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.
Visitation will be at the Schoedinger Funeral Home at 5554 Karl Road, Columbus Ohio 43229 on Sunday, August 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be conducted at Our Lady of Peace at 20 East Dominion Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43214 on Monday, August 2nd at 10:00 am.
A military graveside service will be conducted 10:00am Wednesday, August 4th at the Solomon's Temple Baptist Church Cemetery, 7659 Lone Star Road by the American Legion Posts #3/265 and Rev. Wayne Baker officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #979.
