Jerry Lynn Barnett, Sr., 56, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday January 27, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Kingsport, he had lived here all his life. He had worked with the City of Kingsport for the past 14 years.
A born again Christian, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Jerry was a member of Holy Mountain Baptist Church where he was an Awana "Sparks" instructor and teacher. Jerry loved to fish and enjoyed making the annual fishing trip with the men of his church.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Carter Mellons; and brother-in-law, Hubert Williams.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Barbara Barnett; son, Jerry Barnett, Jr. and his wife, B.J., Kingsport; daughter, Crystal Crawford and her husband, Brent, Church Hill; two special grandsons, Seth Blevins and Logan Barnett; mother, Carrie Gilmore, Kingsport; sisters, Diane Williams, Kingsport, Helen Arnold, Church Hill, Teresa Pless, Knoxville, and Jean Rhea, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holy Mountain Baptist Church. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating.
Pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Jim Bishop, Woody Caldwell, Micah Johnston, Larry Johnston, Stan Peirce, and Gene Carrick.
