Jerry Churchwell, 64, Kingsport, died early Tuesday morning August 9th, 2011 peacefully at his home.
A lifelong resident of the Kingsport area, he formerly worked at Oakwood Markets for 10 years and retired from Eastman Chemical Company following 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenna and Hal S. Churchwell, brothers Kenneth, Charles Edith, Hal B. and Johnny and mother-in-law Freddie Ruth Henry.
He is survived by Merreta, his wife of 45 years; son, Jeremiah Churchwell and wife Kristen; daughter, Christi Rodgers and husband Moses; grandson, Jonas Churchwell, granddaughters, Abby Rodgers, Kaylee Rodgers, Cassie Rodgers and fiancé Landon Rose, great grandson, Xander Rodgers papaws little Roy, brothers-in-law, L.A. Henry, Glenn Smith, sisters-in-law, Roma Smith, Margaret Churchwell and Mary Cox. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Special friends, Vince Hoard, Cecil Rutledge, Eddie Larkins and Ricky Trent.
Calling hours are Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Graveside Services will be Friday, August 12th at 11:00a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Charles Kilborne officiating. Pallbearers will be L.A. Henry, Moses Rodgers, Landon Rose, Brian Henry, Glenn Smith and Tim Bellamy.
