Jerry Wayne Pearson Deel

What a joyous day!  Jerry Wayne Pearson Deel, 89, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was surrounded by his wife and children at home.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jean Wilkerson Deel; children Michelle (JD) Laughlin and Derek (Corinna) Deel; grandchildren, Nathan, Ciara and Danielle; great-granddaughter, Collins; brother, Donnie Pearson Deel; and sisters, Faith Olivo and Karen Moore.

Jerry was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 27 years. He loved his church family immensely.  

He was employed by Tennessee Eastman Company for 44 years.   He was a welding technologist, and his knowledge was valued throughout the U.S. and internationally.  Jerry served in the U.S. Army for 6 years.  After his retirement in 1997 he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and golfing with his buddy, John Cameron.  Jerry was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching the U.T. Vols with grandson, Nathan.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Travis Pierson officiating.
