Jerry Lassiter Eaves, 81, died July 22, 2012, at his home in Kingsport, TN. He was born in Vance County, North Carolina; attended Epsom High School in Oxford, North Carolina; attended Wake Forest University and received his BS Degree in Business and Economics from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, receiving the fraternity's Outstanding Academic Award for two years. He was also awarded several public speaking and oratory awards during his college career at ETSU.
Mr. Eaves enjoyed a distinguished career with IBM, culminating with a branch manager position in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was later affiliated with Memorex Corporation and Harris Data Systems in Washington, DC. He held membership in several professional organizations during his career.
He was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, he being the last remaining sibling, all of whom were children of George Washington Eaves and Carrie Lou Lassiter Eaves of Oxford, North Carolina.
He is survived by four children: George Mitchell Clark Eaves of Kingsport, Tennessee; Joel Preston Eaves and Meredith Celeste Eaves, both of Charlotte, North Carolina and Lee McCoy Eaves of Franklin, Tennessee. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Morgan Nicole Eaves of Charlotte, North Carolina and Elizabeth Rose Eaves of Franklin, Tennessee. Survivors also include seven nieces, including one very special niece, Megan Parker Brown of Kingsport. He is beloved by his great-nieces and nephew.
A private memorial service will be held at a later unannounced date.
