Jerry A. Hensley, 77, Kingsport, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Jerry retired from Eastman in 1985 after 37 years of service and was an active member of the Sullivan County Democratic Party where he had served on the Executive Committee and had served as officer of elections for the 15th precinct for many years before his declining health. He was a Boy Scout leader in the late 50?s and early 60?s, was a charter and lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #972, and attended Walkers Fork Baptist Church.

His wife, Jane Hensley; and parents, O. F. and Maud Murrell Hensley preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Melanie Widener and husband, Phil, Kingsport; three sons, Jerry A. Hensley II, Church Hill; Eric Hensley, of the home; Loren Hensley and wife, Rhonda, Kingsport; and two grandchildren, Ayla Savannah Hensley and Lakota Chayton Hensley, both of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Crawford officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Walkers Fork Baptist Church, c/o Ruby Bragg, 5922 Lone Star Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

The family requests that family and friends spend time with their families Christmas day and visit with the Hensley family on Tuesday.
