Jerry Scott Johnson

Jerry Scott Johnson, 81, Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019.  As a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport for 56 years, he was privileged to serve in numerous areas including deacon chair and Sunday school director.  Jerry was also active in the community by chairing Holston Habitat for Humanity and YMCA boards in addition to volunteering with Boy Scouts, CASA, Colonial Heights Athletic Commission, Providence Medical Clinic Kingsport and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport for more than 50 years.  He served in the United States Army and National Guard, earning the rank of Captain.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence E. and Mildred Johnson; brother, Kenneth Johnson; and granddaughter, Presley Hester.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Janet Neubert Johnson; sons, Alan Johnson and wife, Jodi, and Ron Johnson and wife, Lisa; daughter, Teresa Hester and husband, Eric; granddaughters, Lily Johnson, Emma Johnson and Lindy Hester; grandsons, Porter Johnson, Gabe Johnson, and “adopted” grandson, Damian Bradshaw; brother, Dan Johnson and wife, Gale; sisters-in-law, Gaye Rogers and Linda Neas; niece, Sarabeth Scaife (Kyle); and nephews, Marc Johnson (Sara), Alex Johnson (Christian), and Bruce Johnson (fiancée, Gail).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Kingsport with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
