Following a brief illness, Jerry Lynn Kenner, Sr., went home to be with his Father in Heaven on Friday, December 27, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and his cats. Jerry was born on January 20, 1944 and lived in Kingsport all his life. He retired from Eastman-Kodak Company and was a member of the Cherokee Rod & Gun Club as well as The Outdoorsmen and The East Tennessee Sportsman Federation. Jerry also served with the United States National Guard.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herschell and Anabel Brooks Kenner, a brother, H.D. Kenner, and a sister, Bobbie Ruth Kenner.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Judy (Davis); one son, Jerry L. Kenner II; three daughters, Lorie Kenner, Brooke Fleenor (Joey) and Amanda Hubbard (Johnny); 7 grandchildren, Jackilyn and Adam Kenner, Walker Gentry, Austyn Hubbard, Jessica, Rachel and J.J. Fleenor; sisters, Catherine Beverly and Ellen White; brother-in-law, Roy G. Davis (Julia); several nieces and nephews; and special caretakers during his illness, Rhonda Kenner, Adam Kenner, Jackilyn Kenner and Austyn Hubbard along with Dawn from Smokey Mountain Hospice.
Calling hours will be from 5-7:00 pm on Sunday, December 29th at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with a memorial service to follow. The service will be conducted by Pastor Phip Sams and the Eulogy will be delivered by Mr. James Branham.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church, 106 E. Charlemont Ave., Kingsport, TN 37660.
It was Jerry's request to be cremated.
