Jerry "J.R." Lawson

Jerry "J.R." Lawson, 70, of Gray, TN, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a graduate of Lynn View High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and the U. S. Army Reserve, having served in Desert Storm. J.R. retired from Tennessee Eastman following 33 years of service. He enjoyed RV'ing, boating, NASCAR and UT Vols sports.

He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Lawson and his parents, Hoyt Lawson and Beatrice McConnell.

J.R. is survived by his daughter, Michelle Lawson of Fall Branch, sister, Judy Foster and husband, Pete of Fall Branch, step-mother, Lillian Lawson of Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Posts 3/265.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Washington County Humane Society, 525 Sells Ave., Johnson City, TN 37605, or to Springdale Baptist Church, 1616 Haga Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660.
