Jerry Lynn Mitchell, 68, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was proud of his services with the U.S. Army, and retired SFC U.S. Army, Special Ops Airborne. Jerry was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
He is together in heaven with his mother, Mabel Mitchell; grandparents, Rose and Henry Collins; his identical twin brother, Larry Glynn Mitchell; and canine friend, Boo-Boo.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Phyllis Castle; nieces, Deborah Castle, Sherry Haynie, and Diana Perry; aunts and uncles, Hicks and Inez Collins, Ray and Susie Hyder; several cousins; and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Cecil Sturgill officiating; Eulogy by Joe Robinette; and special music by Michael Lane and long time friend, David Hedrick of Columbia S.C.
A graveside service will be held with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265 at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29 at Liberty Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Lantz officiating.
Pallbearers will be Randy Perry, Mike Terry, David Hedrick, Chuck Morelock, Laurence Barnes, and Joe Haynie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Sanders, Larry Salley, La Rue Johnson, Steve Salley, and Mark Gage.
