Jerry Lynn Richardson

Jerry Lynn Richardson, 73, Kingsport, passed away early Monday morning at this home following a brief illness. Jerry was born in Coeburn, VA, and had been a resident of Kingsport for most of his life. He was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 58, where he lettered in basketball and baseball for all four years of school. Jerry taught school and coached , retiring from the Sullivan County school system in 2000. He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. Jerry was an avid golfer, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He enjoyed his grandchildren and making brownies for them.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, C.D. and Ruth Richardson and his brother, Kenneth (Yogi) Richardson.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron Hovis Richardson of the home; children, Beth Copas, Kingsport, Laura Richardson, Japan, Anthony Richardson and wife, Jamie, Kingsport, and Jeff Richardson and wife, Lisa, Kingsport; grandchildren, Corri and Casey Richardson, Tyler and Lauren Richardson, and Andrew and Matthew Copas; sisters, Arline Ferguson, Kingsport, Rita Kelley, Kingsport; brother, Jim Richardson, Kingsport; sister-in-law, Carmen Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Sullivan Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Sullivan Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
