Jessie H. Carter

Jessie H. Carter, 73, Blountville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 5, 2014.

Psalm 23:4"Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Jessie was a loving husband of 49 years and a good father. He loved working on cars and picking blackberries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mattie Pierson Carter.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Massey Carter, daughter, Pamela Cornwell and husband, Joel; son, David Carter, granddaughters, Brooke and Rebecca Cox; sisters, Bernice Ellis and husband Kenneth, and Marie Robinson; brother, Raymond Carter; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 7, 2014) at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating.

Graveside services will 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers from Greif Brothers.

The family would like to thank special caregivers: Jessica R.N. and Gina CNA of Caris Hospice and all other hospice caregivers.
