Jessie J. Collins

Jessie James Collins, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and his loved ones on Monday, August 27, 2012. Jessie was born and had spent his childhood in Duffield, VA. After moving to Kingsport, he met his wife and mother of his children, Margaret White Collins. They married on January 11, 1946. Jessie retired from Eastman Kodak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Rosie Fraley Collins, his first wife, Margaret White Collins 1989, and granddaughter, Micah Collins 1987.

Jessie is survived by his 2nd wife, Dessil Collins of Kingsport; sons, Ben Collins and wife, Linda Gayle of Gray, TN, and Gary Collins of Kingsport; daughter, Kathy Proffitt and husband, Doug of Kingsport; step-children, Julie Hensley, Linda Begley, Wayne and Rocky Marshall of Kingsport; grandchildren, Todd, Dale, Maria, Kristie, Brooke and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Josh, Tyler, Terrance, Bryce, Summer and Austin; great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alannah and Josie Mae; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, August 31st at 2 p.m. at Gunnings Cemetery, Blountville, TN.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
