Jessie Gatlin Cox

Jessie G. Cox, 20, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord as a result of an accident on Monday, June 24, 2013. He was born July 30, 1992 in Kingsport and was a lifelong area resident. Jessie attended Daniel Boone High School.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lillian Mae Hite, paternal aunt, Marie Morelock Scott and maternal great-grandfather, Ryland Darnell.

Jessie is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rachael and Steve Compton of Fall Branch; father, Jamie Cox of Kingsport; sister, April Compton of Fall Branch; maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Darnell of Kingsport; paternal grandfather, Donnie Hite of Kingsport; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Glinda Johnson of Kingsport, Emmitt and Opal Spears of Kingsport, and Gary and Alice Compton of Kingsport; paternal aunt, Janet McCray and husband, Richard of Kingsport; maternal aunts, Stacey Joyner and husband, Gary of Kingsport, Deena Compton of Kingsport, and Angie O'Quinn of Saltville, VA; maternal uncles, Michael Spears of Kingsport, Harold Cox, Jr. of Kingsport, and Michael and James O'Quinn of Saltville, VA; nephew, Jeremy Carignan of Fall Branch; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch and at anytime at the home of his mother until the time of visitation. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 in the Chapel with Pastor Bob Seymore officiating. Musicians will be Judy Chase and Tom Hill.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 am at Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Dockery, Andrew Johnson, Gary Joyner, Kevin Justis, Richard McCray, Rick Seymore, Terry Frost, Earl Weeks and Michael "Mikey" Spears.
