Jewell Morris Riggs of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012. She was born and lived in Kingsport until the last two years, when she moved to Evans, Georgia. Jewell retired from the Kingsport City School System and then did volunteer work for Habitat Resale Store and the St. Paul's Food Pantry. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Riggs; brother, Jimmy Morris; son, Kenneth Riggs; niece, Adalie Morris; and parents, Henderson Morris and Addie Morris Pratt.
Survivors include her son, Alan Riggs and wife, Debbie of Jonesborough; her daughter, Diane Riggs Sheffield and husband, John of Evans, Georgia; and daughter-in-law, Neshma Riggs of Church Hill, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Heather and Joey Barrs of Evans, Georgia, Nick and Emily Sheffield of Evans, Georgia, Jason and Denise Riggs of Douglasville, Georgia, Brooke and Tom Tollerton of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mike and Sharee Riggs of Atlanta, Georgia, and Melinda and Dennis Miller of Kingsport, Tennessee; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Mary Walker and Vickie Morris of Lakeland, Florida; and sister-in-law, Avon Morris.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Edward J. Mills, III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
