Jewell Scalf, 77, Kingsport went to be with Jesus at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at her home. Jewell was born in Hancock County and had resided in the Kingsport area for most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. Jewell had lived a life of loving service to her family and others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Elizabeth Hill; husband, Ezra Scalf; and brother, Clarence Hill.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Adkins and husband, Jim, Jonesborough, TN; sons, Bennie Scalf and wife, Robbin, Gray, Daniel Scalf and wife, Kim, Kingsport, and Tim Scalf, Kingsport; 5 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 8 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-granddaughter, and 1 great-great granddaughter; sisters, Anna Fleeda Smith, Rogersville, Sarah Morelock, Greeneville, Marie Hammonds, Kingsport, Blanche Light, Rogersville, Rexie Purkey, Bean Station; brothers, Billy Hill, Rogersville, J. L. Hill, Rogersville, Ronald Hill, Rogersville, and Paul Hill, Baileyton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Keith Smith and Honorary Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
