Jimmie Lee Dietrich passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 in Kingsport after a period of declining health. Born August 16, 1918 in Bristol, she was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Jimmie Lee was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 65 years and loved her involvement there with choir, Sunday School and circle. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jimmie Lee was employed at Tennessee Eastman before her marriage to Leonard. After her marriage she excelled at being a homemaker, mother and caterer. She returned to the workforce in the mid 1960's as a retail clerk at Tots and Teens in Greenacres and later at Nettie Lee Shop in downtown Kingsport. She retired from her retail career after her husband's retirement in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Martin Dickson and Zura Dykes Dickson; her step-mother, Nancy Pettyjohn Dickson; her husband of 46 years, Leonard Allen Dietrich; daughter, Linda Merle Dietrich; sister, Thelma Babb; and brother, Charles Dickson.
Jimmie Lee is survived by two sons, Dr. James Allen Dietrich and wife Beth of Nashville, TN and Dr. Daniel M. Dietrich and wife, Dee Dee of Kingsport; sister, Johnnie Lu Morgan and husband, Evan of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, Kristen Dietrich and husband, Doug Godfrey of Southbury, CT, Dr. Karen Dietrich Walker and husband, Jonathan of Tuscaloosa, AL, Katherine Dietrich Perreault and husband, Rudy of Birmingham, AL, Daniel Anderson Dietrich and wife, Hayley of Johnson City, TN, and Lauren Dietrich Ralls and husband, Sam of Spartanburg, SC; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, August 30th at 5:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Counts officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
