Jimmy Lynn Ball, 54, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his residence. Born in California on February 25, 1961, a son of the late Allen Merle and Sylvia Ball, he resided in this area most of his life. Jimmy was of the Baptist faith and attended Glenwood Community Baptist. He was a retired pipefitter, and had worked for several construction companies across the country. Jimmy will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 20 years, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing and had attended many Nascar events, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, McKinley and Alice Ketron Olinger; first wife, Rose Ann Ball; one son, Jeffrey Ball; and brother, Donnie Ball.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 20 years, Judy Dean Ball; daughter, Melinda Ball Slemp and husband, Josh of Kingsport; two step-daughters, Lora Gibson and mate, J.R. of Houston, TX, and Crystal Gibson; two grandchildren, Jordan Slemp and Matthew Slemp; four step-grandchildren, Ashley Hicks and husband, Ray and children, Brandon and Natalie, Joseph "Bo" Sexton and wife, Amanda and children, Braelyn and Charlie, Justin Sexton and wife, Allison and Justin's son, Hunter, Amber Sexton and mate, Mikey Smith and children, Autumn and Colton; two brothers, Gene Ball and wife, Linda, and Ronnie Ball, both of Church Hill; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and several friends, Jack Herron, Cliff Parker, Preston Ketron, Matt Wallen, Tracy Fugate, and Vickie Montoya and mate, Robert Holmes.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with Evangelist Bill Tignor and Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Special music will be provided by the McMurray Brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Community Baptist Church. Those attending the graveside service are asked to assemble at Hamlett-Dobson by 10:30 a.m. and then proceed to the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all family and friends, their church friends and Pastor Andy Sensabaugh for all their compassion and help.
