Jimmy K. "Jim" Hughes

Jimmy K. Hughes, 73, Kingsport, TN, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Baileyton, TN, he had resided in Kingsport for the past seven years. He was a graduate of Baileyton High School and East Tennessee State University. He started his career at JC Penney's in Knoxville and was transferred to the Dallas Texas buying office. In 1979 he and his wife moved to Southern California where he began a business manufacturing women's clothing.

His parents, Aubrey and Eula Hughes preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Rita Hughes, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Melanie Early and husband Steve, Temecula, CA; son, Tony Hughes and wife, Rhonda, Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Preston, Natalie and Candace Early; and Hayden Hughes; two sisters, Shelby Carver, Kingsport, TN; Dreama Gasaway and husband Reagan, Dallas, TX; brother, Dr. Bobby Hughes and wife Joan, Baytown, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and also from 1-2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Baileyton United Methodist Church.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Baileyton United Methodist Church with Rev. William C. Rimmer officiating.

Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Baileyton, TN.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
