Jimmy “Wayne” Medlin, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Wayne was born in Kingsport on June 4, 1942, and lived his entire life in the Bloomingdale community. He was a 1960 graduate of Ketron High School and a 1964 graduate of East Tennessee State University. After a brief stint as a teacher, he began employment with the Tennessee Eastman Company, retiring in 1995 with 30 years of service.
In his spare time, Wayne was a farmer at heart, who loved is tractors and cattle, raising registered angus on the home place on Wadlow Gap Road. He also dabbled in the egg business for years, selling eggs by the case to stores all over Kingsport. When not farming, he enjoyed his old Model-T truck.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth P. and E.R. “Jimmy” Medlin; wife, Linda Medlin; and sister, Betty Lou Bates.
He is survived by his sons, Gary and fiancé Debbie Edmonds, Danny and wife Carla, and stepson, Dale McLean and wife Michele; grandchildren, Cody Medlin and wife Jessica, Matthew Medlin, Meghan Mosley and husband Burney, Jessie Medlin and husband Jeffrey; step-grandchildren, Ella and Evan McLean; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at East Lawn Memorial Park with Ed Clevinger, Minister officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
