Jimmy Scott Harper, Sr., 82, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. He retired from the City of Kingsport after 28 years of service. Jimmy liked to work on lawnmowers and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Oma Harper; brother, Alvery Harper; and daughter, Penny Wills.
Jimmy is survived by two sons, Tyler Harper and Felicia McConnell; and Jimmy Harper and wife, Maria; two grandchildren, Jimmy Harper, III and Stevie Lakin Ray; two brothers, Doug Harper and wife Jane; Dave Harper and wife Wanda; two sisters, Lana Roberts and husband Robbie, and Dorothy Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff of Wexford House for their care these last few years.
The family will receive friends from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Anthony Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Hiltons, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
