J.L. Charlton

John Larkin Charlton, 87, of Fall Branch, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. A native of Greene County, he had lived in this area most of his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his discharge he worked for Eastman Kodak, where he retired after 33 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Edith Charlton; sister, Wanda Shipley; and brother, Billy D. Charlton.

J.L. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Charlton; daughter, Jennifer Ford and husband, Teddy; 2 sons, Jeff Charlton & wife, Pamela H. and Joey Charlton; 3 grandchildren, Heath Charlton, and Dustin and Gina Ford; brother, Charles Charlton and wife, Mary; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Richard Bowers and Rev. Oscar McAmis officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at Fall Branch at 10:20 a.m. to follow in procession.

Pallbearers will be Kim Shipley, Kip Charlton, Heath Charlton, Dustin Ford, Jeff Harrison and Donnie McKamey.
