Jo Ann Steadman, 72, of the Beech Creek Community passed on to Heaven Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.

She attended Van Hill Freewill Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jo Ann will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Shular Light; one son, Mark Steadman; one brother, Donnie Light; and her stepmother, Jenny Light.

Surviving are one daughter, Cindy Fields and husband, Dennis of Fall Branch; two sons, Rick Light and wife Sandra of Kingsport, Troy Steadman of the home; a special grandson, Mark Falin; a special step-granddaughter, Tonya Fields; a special step-great-grandson, Mykael Hall; three sisters, Marie Bolton and husband Kermit, Novell Wright, Evelyn Wilkerson; one brother, Delmas Light; a special niece, Judy Carter; and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Shane Falin, Wayne Morelock, and Donna and Ronnie Arnold.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Pat Castle and Peggy Tyus. Also a special thanks to Dr. Baumrucker, Joanna Beech, and the staff of W-3 Wilcox Hall.

Receiving of friends will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Rogersville. Pallbearers will be Rick Light, Mark Falin, Shane Falin, Hal Castle, Randy Wilkerson, and Bob Tyus.
