Jo Evelyn Wagner

Jo Evelyn Wagner, 83, of Kingsport, died peacefully Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Wexford House.

Jo was born and raised in Kingsport where she spent her entire life. She was a homemaker. Jo was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church and attended faithfully until declining health. Prior to her illness, she loved cooking and sending cards to family and friends. Joe will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always had a smile for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Wagner; son, Mike "Dirty Mike" Wagner; daughter, Mitzi Gott; her parents and one sister.

Jo is survived by daughter, Lisa Shipley and husband, Alan, Kingsport; four grandchildren, David Wagner, Kingsport, Travis Gott, Beaumont, TX, Todd Shipley, Nashville, TN, and Rachael Wagner, Church Hill; sister, Hazel Wagner, Michigan; son-in-law, Leroy Gott, Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Wexford House for their care and compassion given to Joe over the past several years.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. Music will be provided by Andy Coffman and Jerry Smith.

The graveside service will be on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 11:00 am, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Deacons of Sullivan Baptist Church.
