Joan Crawford, 76, of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday afternoon October 12, 2007 at Indian Path Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Greene County, TN on October 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys English.
Mrs. Crawford was a registered nurse and worked at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After her retirement, she served as Parish Nurse at Colonial Heights Baptist Church for many years where she was a member. She also served many years as a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She was passionate about Bible study, prayer, and serving her Lord.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Crawford of the home; son, Dr. Mark Crawford and wife, Dana of Alpharetta, GA; grandsons, Caleb Crawford and Benjamin Crawford, both of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Linda English Mays and husband, Glenn of Athens, Georgia; brother, Allen English of Jonesborough, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willard and Barbara Crawford, Claude and Edna Crawford, Bea Crawford, Lorene Crawford, Lorraine Blair, Cathrine Harr, Mary Lynn Gentry, and Lucille Kincheloe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday October 14, 2007 at Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with Dr. Greg Burton and Rev. Bob McNew officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of Edward Crawford?s Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Joan Crawford to Samaritan?s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. Contributors are encouraged to request that Samaritan?s Purse notify the family of the contribution.
