Joann Merck Rasnake

Joann Merck Rasnake, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. She was of the Baptist faith and had been a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, having been saved at an early age.  She had lived in Kingsport for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Glenn Merck and Nell Archer Merck, and brother, Hoyt Wayne Merck.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Ann Lunney of Kingsport; son, David Keith Rasnake of Knoxville; and granddaughters, Jennifer Ann Lunney Reynolds of the United Kingdom, and Melody Ann Lunney of Covington, Kentucky.

The family of Joann Rasnake would like to thank Dr. Dale E. Solomon and nurse Sherry Riggs for their expert care over the past 30+ years.  Also the family would like to thank the paramedics involved in her care, and the doctors, nurses and staff of Holston Valley Medical Center who took care of her during her illness.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
