Joe T. Bishop

Joe T. Bishop, 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 17, 1930 and resided in Kingsport most of his life. He worked and retired from Tennessee Eastman Company. Joe enjoyed being on the lake, fishing, playing his guitars, working with his flowers and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of Heritage First Church of God where he taught Men's Sunday School Class.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Roxie Bishop; first wife, Bobbie Jeanne Bishop, the mother of his daughters; brother's Jack and Larry; and sons-in-law, Barney Vaughn and Kenneth Amyx.

Surviving are his loving wife of 11 years, Bobbie Bishop; daughters, Brenda Vaughn, JoAnne Toliver (husband, Kimsey) and Debbie Amyx; brothers, John Bishop and Benny Bishop; grandchildren, Becky Hackney (Ronnie), Allen Toliver, David Vaughn and Chad Toliver (Jamie); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to all of his Amedisys caregivers for the love and kindness shown to Joe.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Shelby Hills Cemetery in Bristol, TN.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Vaughn, Allen Toliver, Colton Hackney, Chad Toliver, Brian Vaughn and friend, Lynn Herron. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Hall, Bill Leedy, Ray Garrison, Oscar Harkelroad, David Branson, Jay Jones, PT Nottingham, Ronnie Hackney and Christopher Hackney.
