Joel Wood

Joel Wood, 83, of Kingsport, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, after an extended illness. Born in Kingsport, where he resided all of his life, Joel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was the owner/operator of his own construction business in Kingsport.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joda Wood of Kingsport; daughter, Valerie Rowlett and husband Jeff of Jonesville, VA; two sons, Joey Wood and wife, Terri of Knoxville, and David Wood and wife, Nancy of Kingsport; three step-daughters, Jamie Hunt of Kingsport, Beth Rimer and husband, Wes of Kingsport; and Garrietta Proutey and husband, Ben of Raleigh, NC: six grandchildren; one great-grandson; four step-grandchildren; and sister, Ann Wood of Lexington, KY.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm with Pastor David M. Peters officiating and military rites conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
